Out-of-state groups offer proposed solutions for Kansas homelessness
While urban areas have higher unhoused populations — about 1,798 people are homeless on any given night in Kansas City, according to a Kansas City advocacy group — rural areas have also seen larger numbers of unhoused people. Conditions have been exacerbated over the last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, rising cost of living and other conditions forcing more residents onto the streets.
